"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."   Psalm 139:14 (NIV)

Recently I saw one of the ‘Seven wonders of the world’ - The Victoria Falls in Zambia, from the Zimbabwean side. It took my breath away by its vast beauty and amazing scenery. As I walked through the various viewing points, I kept on remarking, (loudly) “how can anyone not believe in God?” It reminded me of this story I heard from the pulpit.

After the cloning of a sheep called ‘Dolly’ in 1996, scientists around the world hailed it as a break through of enormous significance. So much so that a meeting was held amongst the scientific community, where it was decided that there was no more need for God. After a short discussion an eminent biologist agreed that he would meet with God and tell him. This is a paraphrase of the conversation.

God: “So you no longer need me, why is this?”

Man: “Well, we can finally create a living being so we are now like you, creators! Have you not seen our sheep Dolly?”

God” “My child I would never force you in to a relationship with me, but to make sure there are no regrets let us have one test. Let us both create man like I did in the beginning.”

The biologist smiled, scooped down and took a handful of earth.

God: “Oh no, make your own dirt!”

There is beauty and wonder even in the dirt of the ground. Take a moment today to discover something AWESOME made by a loving God. Start by a taking a look in the mirror.

Our song for today is the both moving and timeless hymn "How great thou art” sung by Wintley Phipps.
