“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.” Psalm 145:18

I recently was working in a school where I was having trouble logging onto a computer. Now I am generally good with tech based stuff so I did the usual routine of trying the password I was supplied with in upper case, lower case, capital letter first etc. finally with time running out I returned with laptop in hand and said it doesn’t work. ‘Pass it here.’ Came the response, then ‘oh I forget I changed the password!’ I was relieved that I wasn’t going mad or completely lost my touch. What was the password changed to? It was ‘password!’

When I remarked that it wasn’t very secure, the teacher replied that she had so many different passwords for credit cards, bank details, email accounts etc that she began to confuse and lock herself out of devices so she changed all of them to the same word – password. Well, I couldn’t really argue with her logic

although I wasn’t sure about the safety of her details.

It did make me realise how fortunate we are that we don’t need a secure state or a password to be in contact with Jesus. He is available all of the time when we need him. All we have to do is call his name.

Today, don’t forget to call him; the password is his name.

‘Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.’ Isaiah 55:6

     Housekeeping details for you

The point of this short blog will become clear if you decide to use this reading in the way we intend it. Netherfield Seventh-day Adventist Church believes in healthy churches. You can see what that means if you head to the relevant Healthy Churches page of the website. We also want other churches to be healthy. That means you can join in our campaign to create healthy churches, with healthy people serving the people in those churches.

A healthy church is one where Jesus comes first. A healthy church is one where the people work together to put Jesus first. One thing we are doing is to join people together to spread that news. I would like you to look at our prayer partners page. This will explain how we want you to use this short devotional. Very basically we want you to find a like-minded Christian friend who you will join with to : choose to pray together every day, decide together on a way to serve other people together, to help them grow as Christians - and to invite the Holy Spirit into your life every day. This blog that you will receive every day simply gives a common spiritual purpose. If you are a newcomer and want to join the blog with this object in mind click here
