"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
Picture this scene: a toddler lying on his back, screaming at the top of his lungs in the confectionary aisle of your local shop. A stressed out looking parent, obviously at the end of their tether, saying “Ok OK you can have some sweets but just this one, as long as you shut up!”
Be honest, what was your gut reaction? Was it,
“Well, that’s not going to teach the child anything but that he can get his own way!”
or maybe,
“Well to be honest, a sweet isn’t going to kill the child, but I might!”
I was faced with a similar dilemma recently, without the sweet and fortunately not in a public place. As I stooped down to the child’s level to try my first port of call, which is usually distraction, a thought occurred to me; how often do we cry out to the Lord to meet our needs when we haven’t planned him in?
For instance, you are running lat for an appointment and you offer up a sincere prayer for the traffic to part like the red sea, so you can get there ASAP. Or an over familiar request of ‘Lord you know that I want to pay my tithes this months but the bills just wont allow it. You know I’m good for it right?’
Are we like the spoilt child expecting God to give in to our requests because of the sometimes unplanned and unstable state of our minds?
It’s a thought that I am going to leave you with today as I pray we learn to trust him more.
Remember God has promised to supply ALL not some of our needs.

Housekeeping details for you
The point of this short blog will become clear if you decide to use this reading in the way we intend it. Netherfield Seventh-day Adventist Church believes in healthy churches. You can see what that means if you head to the relevant Healthy Churches page of the website. We also want other churches to be healthy. That means you can join in our campaign to create healthy churches, with healthy people serving the people in those churches.
A healthy church is one where Jesus comes first. A healthy church is one where the people work together to put Jesus first. One thing we are doing is to join people together to spread that news. I would like you to look at our prayer partners page. This will explain how we want you to use this short devotional. Very basically we want you to find a like-minded Christian friend who you will join with to : choose to pray together every day, decide together on a way to serve other people together, to help them grow as Christians - and to invite the Holy Spirit into your life every day. This blog that you will receive every day simply gives a common spiritual purpose. If you are a newcomer and want to join the blog with this object in mind click here
