“Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings” Psalm 17:8

I shared this testimony at church on Sabbath of how God gave me a gentle tap on the shoulder. I hope it does the same for you.

I have been blessed with good health. Over a 6-year period I only had 2 days off work and they had to send me home on those occasions! I am grateful. Last week I had a swelling over my right eye, which was diagnosed as an allergic reaction. In 3 days my eye was virtually closed. Apart from being uncomfortable there was little pain but being in a school I was feeling vulnerable. They say teachers need eyes in the back of their heads - and they do!

All morning I was feeling anxious at not being able to see properly, especially with young children rushing around me. I was working but not with my usual smile. So I didn’t notice the little boy looking at me whilst I was waiting with them at lunch. That was until he asked me this question

“Do you like rock of ages?”

I looked down trying to not look surprised. ‘Do you mean the song?’

“Yes, do you know it? It’s my favourite!” He smiled and walked past me into the hall.

And there it was, in that moment I realized that God was nudging me, reminding me that he still speaking to me. I felt slightly ashamed of my weak witness that day but nevertheless grateful that amidst the chaos of the school day, he chose to speak to me through a small boy – not known for good behaviour!

Listen out for God today as he speaks to us.

"He still speaks" is the title of todays's song. It is by the 'Heritage Singers.' Click on the picture to listen.

     Housekeeping details for you

The point of this short blog will become clear if you decide to use this reading in the way we intend it. Netherfield Seventh-day Adventist Church believes in healthy churches. You can see what that means if you head to the relevant Healthy Churches page of the website. We also want other churches to be healthy. That means you can join in our campaign to create healthy churches, with healthy people serving the people in those churches.

A healthy church is one where Jesus comes first. A healthy church is one where the people work together to put Jesus first. One thing we are doing is to join people together to spread that news. I would like you to look at our prayer partners page. This will explain how we want you to use this short devotional. Very basically we want you to find a like-minded Christian friend who you will join with to : choose to pray together every day, decide together on a way to serve other people together, to help them grow as Christians - and to invite the Holy Spirit into your life every day. This blog that you will receive every day simply gives a common spiritual purpose. If you are a newcomer and want to join the blog with this object in mind click here
